Focus: The Master Teacher: Jesus
Week One Devotional: “Respect Authority”
Scripture Lesson: Hebrews 13:17
Hebrews 13:17 New King James Version (NKJV)
17 Obey those who [a]rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
- Hebrews 13:17 lead
Hebrews 13:17 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
17 Obey your leaders and do what they say. They are watching over you, and they must answer to God. So don’t make them sad as they do their work. Make them happy. Otherwise, they won’t be able to help you at all.

13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.

A good instructional model has several components for preparing an effective lesson. They may include:
- the objectives (desired results/goal);
- the set (hook) (getting the learner excited about the lesson);
- the standards (expectations);
- teaching (input, modeling, demonstrating, giving direction, and checking for understanding);
- guided practice (monitoring);
- closure (summary);
- independent practice.
